Astral Nights / Astronomy & live experiences

Countdown to
the stars.

A working launch countdown, a sourced guide to the 2026 Orionids, and a future home for live skywatching. These are separate experiences, with no simulated footage passed off as live.

October 18–22, 2026 · Proposed event schedule · Eastern Daylight Time
Website launch target

October 21, 2026 · 7 PM EDT

This clock counts down to the planned release time. Reaching zero does not, by itself, confirm the website has launched.

Proposed schedule · EDT (UTC−04:00)

Three moments, two streams.

  1. Countdown broadcast target A standalone OBS Browser Source displays a designed countdown. The stream is only public when actually scheduled and started.
  2. Website public release target Launch proceeds only after core pages, accessibility, security, and deployment checks pass.
  3. Separate Orionids livestream target Continue into October 22 pre-dawn if conditions and equipment allow. No guaranteed meteor counts or footage.
Astronomy note: NASA expects 2026 moonlight to hide fainter Orionids. The period after the Moon sets and before dawn may be preferable to early evening. See the sourced viewing guide.
Watch / Only when scheduled

Broadcast connections

The stream player is intentionally optional. No YouTube player loads unless a broadcast ID is configured and you explicitly choose to load it.

Astral Countdown

Oct 21 · 8 PM EDT · Proposed

Orionids 2026 Skywatch

Proposed separate skywatch stream, subject to location, equipment, weather, and testing.

No broadcast ID has been entered. This is a planned event, not an active stream.

Useful even without a camera

Skywatch fallback plan

If weather or a connection prevents live filming, Astral Nights will keep these educational guides and source links available. The countdown is a graphic, not astronomy footage, and the event page never implies a stream is active merely because a player exists.
